Situated in the majestic Alps, at an altitude of 1,263 m and just 90 minutes from Geneva and its international airport, the Swiss Alpine Centre is within easy walking distance of both the main train station and the center of Leysin. This picturesque village, known as the alpine educational capital of Switzerland, is home to several prestigious international schools and a hotel management school and offers excellent indoor and outdoor sports and recreational facilities.
The Swiss Alpine Centre offers a wide range of in-house facilities, including classrooms, meeting rooms, a large and well-equipped theatre, dance studio, fitness room, internet café, tuck-shop, arts & crafts room, climbing wall and common rooms with table tennis, foosball, TV and board games.
The Swiss American Academy blended learning model of education makes use of a wide range of classroom models including one-to-one tutorial rooms, traditional classrooms, lecture halls and for debates and webinars, STEM and science laboratories, interactive IT facilities and a supervised self-study and reference library. In addition, there are specialist facilities for art, drama, dancing, design and film-making.
All teaching rooms are equipped with white boards, audio equipment, digital beamers and other presentation equipment as required. Monitored access to high-speed Wi-Fi is available throughout the buildings.
Accommodation at the Swiss Alpine Centre is in spacious comfort or standard rooms housing from two up to four students. Of a surface of approximately 20 m2, comfortable rooms have full en-suite facilities, while standard rooms have a shower and sink inside with common toilet facilities on each floor. The Alpine Clubhouse is an annex building with an additional 17 double rooms, all with their own balcony and bathroom facilities, which are shared on each floor.
With three totally refurbished dining rooms on site, the first (273 m2) accommodating up to 140 people and the second more private one (208 m2) up to 60 people, the Swiss Alpine Centre easily manages the meals for various group sizes. The latest addition is a dining room, which can accommodate up to 40 guests.
Meals include a hearty continental breakfast with bread, jams, butter, cereals, yogurts, fruits, juices, coffee and tea. Lunch and dinner are served buffet-style with a choice between two main courses and their side dishes, soup, a generous salad buffet, dessert and fruits. An experienced and talented kitchen team is always available to accommodate requests for special meals and diets.
Besides the classroom, the Swiss Alpine Centre facilities include a 75 m2 lounge where students can relax and play board games, a 180 m2 games room with football, ping pong tables and a large TV screen, a 180 m2 reception room, a bar of 65 m2 which is used as an in-house tuck shop for students and, finally, a fully equipped 210 m2 auditorium for 200 guests.
